New Richmond Residents Spend More Time Driving Past Somerset Than Stopping In—That's Worth Reconsidering
Highway 64 Already Connects New Richmond to Somerset—The Smoke Shop Is on the Way
Most New Richmond residents running errands toward the St. Croix Valley already pass within a few miles of Smokeclaire Tobacco Somerset without turning in—not because the selection doesn't warrant it, but because the gap between what local gas stations carry and what a dedicated smoke shop offers isn't visible until you've been inside one. New Richmond sits roughly 15 miles east of Somerset along Highway 64, and that corridor already moves New Richmond traffic toward the river for seasonal recreation, cross-border shopping, and weekend trips. Adding a smoke shop stop to that existing route requires no additional planning.
What separates Smokeclaire Tobacco Somerset from smaller St. Croix County retail is category depth: hemp-derived THC products from Exotic Bloom and Wild West Oil Co. in flower, cartridge, gummy, and beverage formats; premium cigars stored in a walk-in humidity-controlled humidor; CBD across oils, gummies, and topicals; disposable and rechargeable vape devices; and glass accessories—all under one roof, with staff available to explain the differences between products rather than leaving customers to interpret packaging alone. That breadth means New Richmond customers consolidate what would otherwise require multiple stops into a single efficient visit.
New Richmond has grown steadily as a residential community for commuters and families who value St. Croix County's outdoor character, and with that growth has come greater demand for specialty retail that smaller local shops haven't kept pace with. Customers who arrive from New Richmond for the first time typically have a specific item in mind—a THC cartridge brand they've been told about, or a premium cigar for an occasion—and discover additional product categories they hadn't considered once staff begin explaining what else is available and how the different formats compare.
Staff conversations at Smokeclaire produce measurably different outcomes than self-service browsing: a New Richmond customer asking about THC gummies leaves with a clear understanding of the onset timing difference between nano-emulsified and standard formulations, which directly affects how they use the product and whether it delivers what they expected. A customer asking about vape devices leaves knowing which nicotine format—salt-nic or freebase—suits their usage pattern, rather than defaulting to whatever is most prominently displayed. These aren't conversations available at a rack display in a convenience store, and the difference shows in first-purchase satisfaction.

What New Richmond Residents Discover That Keeps Them Coming Back
First-time visitors from New Richmond consistently describe the same experience: arriving for one product and leaving with a clearer picture of several others. Here's what makes the stop worthwhile on every visit:
- THC flower, cartridges, edibles, and infused beverages from Exotic Bloom and Wild West Oil Co., with staff explaining how each format differs in onset and duration
- Walk-in humidor cigars selected with guidance on wrapper type, strength rating, and ring gauge relative to the time and occasion available
- Disposable and rechargeable vape devices paired to usage patterns rather than sold generically off the shelf
- CBD products explained with per-serving concentration math rather than front-label milligrams that can mislead without context
- New Richmond customers making the 15-mile drive on Highway 64 find a product range and staff depth unavailable anywhere along the local St. Croix County corridor
A smoke shop stop that solves multiple product needs in one visit is more efficient than three separate stops that individually fall short.
